Kevin Havens, AIA

Senior Vice President, Director of Design

An internship can lead in many directions. For Kevin Havens, it led to Wight & Company. During high school Kevin interned with Wight & Company and became acquainted with Mark Wight. The two remained friends throughout their early careers and in 1987 Mark invited Kevin to join the firm as Director of Design.

Today Kevin is a Senior Vice President, Director of Design and oversees the creative direction for the firm’s design work. He is responsible for the company’s creative design efforts including master planning, facility programming, concept design and interior architecture.

With nearly 30 years of experience ranging from corporate campuses to housing, Kevin primarily focuses on architecture for education, mixed-use/multi-family developments and government. He is intent on understanding first the client and the user requirements for a project before suggesting a solution.

Kevin’s recent assignments include a master plan for Elmhurst College with a sustainable LEED Silver registered residence hall; Tinley Park Place, a mixed-use development project; master plan for the University of Illinois at Chicago South Campus Development; an expansion and modernization plan for York High School in Elmhurst, Ill.; and multiple projects for DuPage County.

Kevin is a member of the American Institute of Architects and earned his Masters of Architecture from Harvard University.
