Senior Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer
With over 20 years of experience, Lois leads Wight & Company’s sustainable design initiatives and continues Wight’s commitment to ensuring that its clients have access to the latest thinking in sustainable solutions. Lois’ work in sustainable design focuses on creating leading edge sustainable facilities, formulating policies that promote sustainability or remove barriers to green design, and maximizing the environmental potential for projects. Lois returns to Wight & Company as the new Chief Sustainability Officer, after a brief hiatus to start her own company and work for an international design and consulting firm.
Lois’ career has been both driven and distinguished by environmentally sound building practices. Her portfolio consists of more than 60 LEED® projects including prominent projects such as the LEED Platinum Hidden Oaks Nature Center and the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center – one of the first LEED certified buildings in the country.
Lois is a licensed architect in the state of Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Architects. She holds a bachelor’s of arts from Indiana University and a master’s of architecture from The Catholic University of America. She maintains a LEED® Faculty title and is affiliated with the US Green Building Council (USGBC), Illinois Green Building Advisory Council and the Illinois Climate Change Advisory Group. She is adjunct faculty at Northwestern University’s Master of Project Management Program where she has taught a course in sustainable construction since 2003 and also serves as the co-chairperson for the host committee of the Greenbuild 2010 Conference.
