Mark Wight is the Chairman and CEO of Wight & Company, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Col. R. B. Wight, PE and father, R. B. Wight, Jr., AIA.
He attended Reed College and the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a degree in law. He joined Wight & Company in 1987.
Mark is constantly anticipating the next direction of the industry, and is a driving factor in the company’s success. He pioneered the integration of architecture and construction while building upon the engineering roots of his grandfather. Today the construction value of the firm’s work exceeds $600 million annually and is ranked among the top firms in the country.
The company’s culture of sustainability was integral to the successful completion of the first LEED Pilot Project: the US Navy Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at Great Lakes Naval Station. Today, Wight’s portfolio contains more than 30 LEED registered or certified projects, and the firm employs 60 LEED Accredited Professionals.
Mark is an active contributor to the community, serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Glenwood School for Boys and Girls. He is a member of the University of Notre Dame Architectural School Advisory Board as well as former Chairman of the Benedictine University President’s Advisory Council.
He is an active participant in professional enrichment organizations. He currently serves as a Chapter Chairman for the World Presidents’ Organization and is a newly elected member of the Chief Executives Organization.
He shares his knowledge during frequent lectures at the University of Notre Dame and other business and educational forums throughout the country.
