Internship Program
Dedication to student mentoring and hiring.
Wight is committed to hiring interns and graduates. We have recruits from various schools in the Midwest to get a good cross section of employees for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Groups.
Our summer Internship program consists of the following:
- Each Summer Intern is assigned a Mentor to work with and give guidance on process and procedures.
- Mark Wight and Pat Cermak host a welcome meeting for all Summer Interns the first two weeks that they are here at Wight. The meeting goes over our company history and Mark talks about our culture and values. In addition, we discuss what the program is intended to do and then Mark opens up the floor for questions.
- The Interns meet as a whole group for luncheons hosted by the various discipline heads and each luncheon then finishes with an on-site tour of a specific project.
- There is an in-house Intern Coordinator – someone we have hired from the summer program after they graduated and became a full-time employee with Wight. This person is in charge of helping the summer interns set up a social function during the summer. In the past the interns have done the Architectural Boat Tour and also gone to Dave and Buster’s for some gaming together.
- The program ends each summer with a good-bye luncheon hosted again by Mark Wight and Pat Cermak at which time we find out what each person learned over the summer and get feedback for how we might improve the program the next year.
