Sustainable Design / LEED Consulting
Prestigious Recognition for Doing the Green Thing.
We believe that sustainable design is not just a trend but rather an irreversible movement which continues to alter how buildings are designed and constructed. With that philosophy, Wight & Company has become a pioneer in sustainability. We always bring varying degrees of green design to each of our projects - Shades of Green as we say - to help our clients achieve the level of sustainability best suited to their needs.
One shade of green comes in the form of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Wight boasts dozens of LEED Accredited Professionals who are experts at meeting the various types of LEED designations. Clients who want to pursue certification through the U.S. Green Building Council enjoy numerous benefits - from energy savings and reduced absenteeism, to improving indoor environments and gaining an edge in the real estate market. Having achieved Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Certified designations, and the inaugural Pilot certification, Wight is a recognized leader in sustainable design in Chicago and the Midwest.
LEED accreditation, however, is only part of the story. Whether or not our clients want their projects to be certified, we incorporate sustainable practices whenever and wherever appropriate. Sustainability is especially important in buildings, as numerous studies have shown a correlation between the design of buildings and student/employee performance. Our sustainable designs not only reduce energy consumption and operating costs, but also create healthy environments that enhance employee/student performance and increase retention of faculty/employees.
We always bring a Shade of Green to each project, because sustainability is the way we do business at Wight. It’s good for the client, the community, and the earth.
