Valley View School District 365U has benefited from Wight & Company’s integrated services delivery approach for several projects over 10 years, many of which have received significant awards. Wight provided integrated services for A. V. Martinez Middle School, a 35-year-old middle school in need of extensive renovations and building infrastructure improvements to accommodate the current teaching environment. The work was carefully phased during summers and the school year to allow the school to remain fully operational during construction. Additionally, the School District engaged Wight to consolidate their early childhood program into one, central facility using an existing, completely remodeled elementary school.

Project highlights include:

> Replacement of the electrical heating system to a forced air/fan power box heat/cooling system to improve the indoor air quality

> Classrooms were remodeled to incorporate better lighting

> Removal of noisy unit ventilators and upgrades of interior finishes

> The circulation pattern was modified to facilitate better student flow during change of classes

> Consolidated the administration and student services into a common area of the building

> New classroom space was created for new curriculum changes
