Lewis University, University Science Building,
Romeoville, IL

Type: Higher Education

Since Wight & Company was awarded its first project at Lewis University, the firm has become a trusted advisor to the small but growing, Catholic university sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers. Wight has been involved in all nine of the new construction, building addition and renovation projects on campus, with more slated for the future. One of those
projects involves an addition to the University Science
Building.

Intended to accommodate the school’s growing enrollment, the project will allow the science departments to expand their instructional potential while enriching the student educational experience. The project is currently in the design phase. Construction is expected to begin prior to Wight & Company’s completion of the Lewis University Residence Hall #3. The Science Building addition will include sustainable features and LEED® Certification will be considered.

Project highlights include:
>     Strong design elements at entryway
>     12 science labs for biology, chemistry and physics
>     Architectural design that blends with the current campus architecture
>     Preparation of an unofficial LEED scorecard to make sure the addition will meet at least the minimum point
requirement for certification.
