Public / Municipal

Since 1939 Wight & Company has provided professional architectural and engineering services to a wide variety of clients in the public sector.

As a leader and innovator in the design of public facilities, Wight & Company has extensive experience working in the public/municipal market. Most recently, the Village of Elwood employed our integrated services to design and build a new municipal center including a shared administrative building and police station, community room and council chambers. As the design-builder for the Oasis Water Park in The Niles Park District, we renovated the swimming pool, added a spray ground, a new parking lot and a new recreation center. In 2008 we won seven significant awards for the Design, Engineering and Construction of Public Projects.

For our US Navy’s Battle Stations 21 project we received the DBIA Best Overall Project and Best Public Sector Building over $15 million. Our work on the Preston Bradley Hall Tiffany Dome at the Chicago Cultural Center earned us "Project of the Year," Renovation/Restoration, small project and the Chicago Landmark Award for Preservation. Other awards included: Lemont High School, "Project of the Year," K-12 education; Army Trail Road, Rubberized Asphalt ("Green Pavement") Pilot Project, ACEC Illinois, Engineering Excellence Award – Special Achievement; and Elmhurst College, West Hall, ACEC Illinois, Engineering Excellence Award – Merit Award for sustainable site design
