Various, IL

Wight & Company, as a partner in a joint venture with R&G Engineering, was selected by the Illinois Tollway to provide Phase III engineering services upon request to perform construction management services as part of the Elgin O’Hare Western Access (EOWA) project.

The EOWA project includes 17 miles of new roads with 15 new or improved interchanges as part of a new, all-electronic toll road that includes rehabilitating and widening Illinois Route 390, formerly known as the Elgin O’Hare Expressway. Due to the overall magnitude of the project and the potential to dramatically improve mobility, freight connectivity, and enhance the national and regional economies, the EOWA project is considered a “Project of National and Regional Significance” by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The EOWA project will improve travel efficiency; provide western access to O’Hare International Airport; enhance air, rail, and trucking connections; and reduce congestion.

Wight has been responsible for several separate locations and contracts within the EOWA project, including the new construction and reconstruction of roadways and ramps, construction of toll plazas, grade separation, removal of noise abatement walls, roadway lighting improvements, tree removal, erosion control, drainage improvements, landscaping, and Right of Way fence removal and replacement.
