Improving municipal services through a contextually responsive design solution for a new firehouse.

Fire Station 4
Lemont Fire Protection District
Lemont, IL

The Lemont Fire Protection District selected Wight & Company to help improve the response time of emergency calls for the residents of the 40 square miles served by the District. Our design-build solution included two double-depth apparatus bays as well as living quarters and fitness facilities for six emergency response personnel. The building has a single-story residential character that complements the surrounding area, and thoughtful siting and landscape design allows it to harmoniously co-exist with the Franciscan Sisters’ Convent to the west. Besides brick masonry, Lemont limestone was also used on the exterior, paying homage to Lemont’s historic buildings.
