Wight & Company provided Phase III engineering services and structural analysis for the I-55/I-355 Interchange. The project included roadway, ramps, drainage, earthwork, and 1400 feet of retaining walls.

In addition to the roadway,  the project included the construction of five major bridges: two mainline structures over 350 feet each; an integral abutment mainline bridge over 100 feet long; and two curved steel girder flyover structures - one over 1900 feet and the other over 2600 feet in length.

 

 

The project scope included structural analysis design check of the curved steel plate girder ramps, design review and evaluation of the curved bridge erection schemes, and staged construction design and coordination. Services also included review and modifications to roadway signage at the toll plaza and interchange ramps.

 

 

Full-time construction management was necessary for this project, and included budget and cost, coordination, schedule monitoring, claim resolution, and field issue identification and resolution.
