The United States Department of the Navy commissioned Wight & Company to perform design-build services to Buildings 8 and 14 at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Crane, Indiana.

Building 8 was a complete renovation of a historically significant campus building adjacent to emergency services. This LEED-Silver certified building was transformed from a global “lock shop” to the National Security Agency Crane Human Resources department. The project included the restoration of enclosed window openings, complete roof and deck replacement, and office and meeting space for 14 full-time personnel and managers.

Building 14 was a selective renovation of a historically significant 1940’s theater building into a training facility for the United States Navy. We restored period-specific windows, brought vaulted ceiling space and original stage back to life, and installed a new MEP system. Office and meeting space for 22 full-time personnel was also included in Building 14’s design.
