Planning a large-scale expansion of an urban college campus.

South Campus Master Plan
University of Illinois at Chicago
Chicago, IL

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) commissioned Wight & Company to develop a master plan for the area south and east of the UIC campus. We coordinated efforts with a wide variety of professionals and municipalities, including the City of Chicago, city planners, landscape architects, and civil engineers. The completed Master Plan includes design and reconstruction recommendations related to nine city streets, addressing the needs of pedestrians, as well as emergency vehicle movement. Street lighting was specified to create a safe environment for students, residents, and visitors while complementing the existing neighborhood ambiance. Our award-winning Master Plan also called for storm water and sanitary sewer systems and water distribution.
