Energy Modeling Engineer

Wight & Company, an award-winning Architecture, Engineering and Construction Management firm located in Darien IL has an outstanding opportunity for someone to join our Sustainability team as an Energy Modeling Engineer.

Duties:

  • Develop and evaluate energy-related projects or programs to reduce energy costs or improve energy efficiency during various stages of planning and construction including electrical, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC), green buildings; lighting; air quality; or energy procurement
  • Utilize knowledge in the latest code related to HVAC and building energy including ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), city of Chicago and other local building codes
  • Perform energy code compliance model and documentation of ECB related aspects to obtain a building permit
  • Energy analysis through construction documentation and modeling to support LEED certificate
  • Review energy models and provide VE options
  • Perform thermal transfer models to analyze potential performance failures through the envelope of the building

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Architectural, Civil, or Energy Engineering so long as classes included energy modeling, building controls, building thermal load and building mechanical and electrical system design
  • Minimum of 10 months experience in job offered or as Building Energy Analyst. (Will accept any job title so long as experience includes energy modeling using IES VE)
  • Experience with energy code compliance models and documentation of ECB related aspects to obtain a building permit
  • Knowledge of LEED energy models, and documentation of LEED related aspects to obtain LEED certification
  • Experience in analysis of energy models to identify VE options
  • Experience with thermal transfer models to analyze potential performance failures through the envelope of the building
  • Knowledge of the latest codes related to HVAC and building energy use including ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), city of Chicago and other local building codes
