Wight & Company is pleased to announce that Griselda Monsivais, PE, CFM, LEED GA, has joined the firm’s Transportation and Infrastructure team as Director of Transportation and Water Resources. Ms. Monsivais brings to this position 20 years of experience in infrastructure planning and water and land development in the public and private sectors.

As a transportation engineer, Ms. Monsivais has completed Phase I Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Studies for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and county and local agencies. Her expertise in water resources and hydraulics facilitates planning of complex infrastructure improvements including interchange and roadway reconstruction, bridge replacement/rehabilitation, and local road planning improvements. She has managed dozens of Phase I studies of varying scope and budget to ensure effective mobility and target design approvals were met. These projects have enriched her knowledgebase in FHWA NEPA processes to effectively navigate the balanced approach needed by transportation leaders in today’s industry.

Ms. Monsivais’ breadth of experience extends to public involvement. She is trained in Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) as well as ToP Facilitation. A graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology, Ms. Monsivais grew up in Chicago and is a member of the Illinois Association of State Floodplain Managers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and WTS International. She is passionate about sharing her experiences as a woman working in transportation and infrastructure and is a sought-after speaker and mentor in the discipline.
