James brings over 25 years of experience in the design and execution of high-profile architecture and planning projects worldwide to his role as Design Principal at Wight. He is passionate about design and programming of large scale mixed-use projects, including hospitality, residential, and office developments, as well as PK-12 education and higher education projects. James has extensive experience leading many high-profile projects, not only in the city of Chicago but throughout the US and internationally in China, India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and most recently in Qatar.
Since joining Wight, James has led the designs for the award-winning adaptive reuse project IBEW Local 134 Union Hall, as well as the newly proposed National Museum for Gospel Music, both located in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago. Most recently, James led the designs for an international PK-12 and STEM school in Doha, Qatar; several elementary school designs in Chicago’s North Shore communities; and a newly proposed residential mid-rise in Michigan City, IN.
