Dynaprop Development Corporation hired Wight & Company to perform architectural services for Phase II of Pointe 1900 on State, a mixed-use development in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood. Phase II included 120 secure residential parking spots, 40,000 sf of first floor retail space, and 131 spacious residential condominium units on five floors. We reconfigured the interior unit floor plans and added two residential stories to a pre-designed footprint that was developed during Phase I of the project. Faced with the challenge of block-long building facades along State Street and Archer Avenue, our design scales down the building’s mass into smaller and more intimate elements. The rhythmic recesses and bays create a compelling depth to the street elevations and offer visual and acoustic privacy for the custom iron balconies.
