Rockford Training Facility
Rockford, IL

The Exelon/Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) commissioned Wight & Company to develop a new training facility at its headquarters site in Rockford, Illinois. We created a design concept that included a training building for classroom-style training and instructor office space. The project also included two primary outdoor, overhead pole training zones that allow for multiple overhead scenarios to be arranged accommodating such activities as primary, single phase, three phase, and pole-climbing training. The project was designed to meet LEED Silver certification standards and also included sustainable strategies for stormwater detention that incorporated bio-infiltration zones to promote water treatment and stormwater quality. The stormwater strategy accommodates the needs of the new development, as well as other previously underserved areas on site.
