The Village of Orland Park engaged Wight & Company to plan and design Centennial Park West as a dedicated outdoor special events venue. Following site analysis and community engagement, Wight developed a conceptual master plan to guide the park’s transformation.
Today, the 12-acre park serves as a vibrant civic destination, hosting the Village’s Concert Series, Independence Celebration, Outdoor Movie Nights, and other signature events.
At its center is a 3,200-square-foot open-air performance stage with a bold roof form inspired by a wood-finished Gibson Explorer guitar. The distinctive canopy creates a recognizable silhouette while supporting acoustic performance, lighting, and production equipment. The 60’ x 40’ covered stage accommodates acts ranging from local bands to national touring artists.
Back-of-house functions—including green rooms, locker and shower facilities, a shared lounge, and a manager’s room—are organized to support professional-level performances. Sculpted wing walls screen operational areas, while large rear sliding doors open to the adjacent pond or allow for dramatic performer entrances.
The gently sloped lawn optimizes sightlines, with a concrete dance floor at the front and space along the perimeter for vendors and food trucks. Designed for flexibility and future expansion, Centennial Park West blends iconic architecture with functional infrastructure, creating a regional destination for music and community events.
