Wight worked closely with the St. Charles Public Library Board and Library Director to complete renovation and expansion studies in 2010 and 2012, providing the Library with the building program and master plan they needed to be able to work toward an expansion. In the 2012 renovation and expansion study, Wight recommended doubling the size of the existing 56,000-sf library, as well as updating the existing building.
The final expansion scheme included expanding the library over an existing parking lot, renovating and rebuilding portions of the existing library, and acquiring adjacent land for a new parking lot. Wight also assisted with re-roofing and the development of a new parking area that fits within the original master plan.
