Director of Operations, Transportation & Infrastructure

Mark Holwerda brings more than 20 years of experience delivering complex transportation and infrastructure projects for public-sector clients across the Chicago region. As Director of Operations, he is a member of both Wight’s Transportation and Infrastructure leadership team and the firm’s Senior Management Team. Mark leads multidisciplinary construction engineering teams, oversees large and diverse project portfolios, and works closely with clients to advance high-priority roadway, bridge, and corridor improvements.

Mark has supported major regional initiatives—including large interchange programs, roadway and bridge reconstructions, and extensive arterial improvement efforts—providing strategic guidance, field oversight, and collaborative problem‑solving to keep projects on track.

A licensed Professional Engineer and LEED AP, Mark holds an MBA from Loyola University Chicago and a BS in Engineering from Calvin University. He is active in industry organizations including IRTBA and ACEC Illinois.
