The Illinois Institute of Technology planned to transform a 1960s classroom building into the flagship for the Armour College of Engineering. A Master Plan for the entire building was prepared. The first phase, completed in 2015, includes new prototypes for Interactive Teaching and for Distinctive Education initiatives. A part of the floors and roof were removed to create a skylit atrium that serves as a collaboration space for students and professors. The building is branded with a new glass and steel canopy at the main entrance.
