The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) commissioned Wight to conduct a survey of existing campus facilities and mechanical, engineering, and plumbing (MEP) systems to develop a comprehensive resource that could be used by the UIC Master Planning Executive Committee for determination of capital expenditure allocations. Following the collection of technical data, which included physical space surveys and interviews with UIC staff, detailed estimates of the expected life cycles of the MEP systems were developed and rankings were assigned to specific spaces/systems to identify the level of attention required by the University. Our integrated services approach allowed the report to grow beyond a standard survey to include in-house conceptual estimating and graphical analysis.
