The Prairie Oak Elementary Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) Lab, located in the Berwyn North School District, is set to rejuvenate and inspire the student’s experimental learning experience. The space is equipped with three distinct learning zones: Research, Experimentation, and the Presentation Zone, which creates collaborative and exploratory opportunities for grade levels K-5. This lab is surrounded by unique details, such as a LEGO Wall to kick-start creative energy, access to digital resources and the school library, bright colors and lighting, and a fun ‘Create’ wall for seating and display. Providing flexible furniture allows students to meet as a whole class and break out into smaller group settings for hands-on project work. This STEAM lab’s overall design is set to encourage active learning for all.
